This country manor was built in 1740 by a family from the country nobility, which is the reason behind the presence of two dovecotes, which was a privilege reserved for nobility. The Château de Baudou is a large longère, or longhouse built with stone from the Saint-Emilion quarries. Bathed in sunlight, the manor's outbuildings are made from red bricks, which used to be manufactured in the area. In contrast with the ephemeral flowers of the irises and buttercups in the park, the oaks, birches and heavily-scented magnolias remind guests of the history held within Le Baudou's walls. Philippe and Marie-Christine, the estate's owners, will infect you with their love for the place. The master of the house will share his oenological knowledge of Bordeaux wines with you, and will give you some useful addresses.
Leisure Activites : a large park with fruit trees, sheep, a vegetable garden, teak deckchairs. Several hiking trails start from the estate.
The Pompadour, Marie-Antoinette, Magnolia and Angelique bedrooms are all tastefully decorated with period furniture and have en-suite bathrooms. Three large rooms are at your disposal: the drawing-room-cum-library, the music room and the dining-room. The house has verandas. A hearty breakfast: fruit from the garden and home-made pastries.
